Lot translate enables you to either change
the name of an existing lot or convert one product to another. This is one of
the key requirements in life science industry where one product may get
translated into another due to various chemical changes. You can change the lot
name, item, revision, or sub-inventory of an existing lot and move it to another
assembly. You cannot translate a lot, if reservations exist.
This functionality can let you perform the following actions with lot translate :
- Update the lot name to an existing lot name
- Update the lot to a new lot
- Update the item to a new item and a new lot
- Update the item and lot to an existing item and lot
Pre-Requisites :
- Organization should be WMS Enabled
- Access to Mobile Supply Chain Application (MSCA) as Lot Translate cannot be performed from forms application
- 'Lot Translate' checkbox should be enabled in Items form as shown below
Navigate to Whse Mgmt(R) > Warehousing > Lot Transactions > Translate
Select the Organization as 'W1' which is WMS Enabled Organization. Enter the Lot, Item, Sub-inventory and locator detail for which you want to do 'Lot Translate'
Click on 'Save/Result' button and give the new detail to which this lot need to be translated. The system will give you an option to change Item/Lot/Sub/Loc detail as per your requirement. You are allowed to change either all of them or any of them as per your need as shown below. I modified the Lot and sub/loc detail but retained the same item.
Click on 'Done' button to complete the transaction.
Navigate to Inventory (R) > On-hand, Availability > Lots and search for New Lot Number.
You can see the Lot Genealogy of the resultant lot without
losing its history.
If your organization is not a WMS Enabled org, this functionality is not available and you end up in doing miscellaneous issue of old lot and receive the
quantity into a new lot. The drawback with this approach is, you miss the relationship between the original lot and the new lot which is a key feature in many industries.

Hi,
ReplyDeleteAs per oracle docs, it says lot attributes( like lot potency value) will be translated from starting lot to resulting lot when lot translation is performed between same item or in case of different item, both the items has same lot attribute category. I am trying to identify this same lot attribute category scenario. I have tested for 2 different items having same set of item categories and also tested for translation between 2 lots having same lot attribute values but lot attributes are not getting copied. Though user has an option to update the attribute values before saving the transaction i would like to know what is the same attribute category scenario that oracle doc mentioned. Please let me know if anyone aware of this scenario
