Container Pack & Shipping in Inventory Org

License Plate Number

Introduction

In Oracle Warehouse Management, a license plate number (LPN) is any object that holds items.
Although LPNs are associated with containers, they do not need to represent a physical entity,
such as a box. Thus, you can define an LPN as a collection of items. Oracle Warehouse
Management enables you to track, transact, and nest LPNs.
Oracle WMS provides full
visibility to inventory items that are stored in license plate numbers (LPNs)

You can :

  • Receive, store, and pick material by LPN
  • View on-hand balances by LPN
  • View LPN contents
  • Use LPNs to perform transactions
  • Print labels and reports for referencing container contents
  • Track nested LPNs (for example, cartons on a pallet)
  • Pack, unpack, consolidate, split, and update LPNs
  • Reuse empty LPNs

Nesting of License Plate Numbers

Oracle Warehouse Management enables you to nest LPNs. For example, pallet LPN P1111
can contain three nested LPNs: LPN C1112, LPN C1113, and LPN C1114. In the system, you
would see LPN P1111 as the top-level LPN, and each of the other three carton LPNs would
fall under LPN P1111.

As shown in the above pic, Pallet LPN4 contains three Cartons LPN1, LPN2 and LPN3.
Carton LPN1, LPN2 and LPN3 are having Item A, Item C and Item B respectively.

Generating License Plate Numbers

  1. To submit the LPN generation request, you must select the Generate License Plates option from the Oracle Warehouse Management Navigator. Next, select Generate LPN as the request that you want to submit, and then indicate the appropriate LPN generation parameters.

This request generates the specified number of LPNs based on the starting prefix, suffix, and start number specified either in the request, or at the organization level.

To set LPN Parameters at organization level, Navigate {Warehouse Manager Responsibility} >Setup > Warehouse Configuration > Warehouses > Warehouse Parameters and select ‘Revision, Lot, Serial and LPN’ TAB and enter the needed detail in ‘LPN Generating Option’ block as shown below.

  1. Users can generate LPNs using Mobile Telnet. LPNs can be generated at their point of use in mobile receipt and task forms. When the cursor is in the LPN field, press Generate to automatically generate the LPN. The system default shortcut key, for Generate is [CTRL]+[G]. This can be customized for each mobile device.

  1. You can use the mobile GUI to generate a new LPN. In the LPN field enter the new LPN by scanning or manually typing the LPN Name and press enter. This generates the new LPN.

  1. The LPN Inquiry provides you with detailed LPN location information as well as information about the state of the LPN. You can also view details about the LPN contents, and to which cost group the contents belong. Navigate to Whse Mgmt -> Inquiry -> LPN and enter the License Plate Number.

  1. Important tables are WMS_LICENSE_PLATE_NUMBERS and WMS_LPN_CONTENTS

Select * from wms_license_Plate_numbers where license_plate_number=&LPN;
- To fetch License Plate Number detail

Select * from wms_lpn_contents where parent_lpn_id=&lpn_id;
- To fetch License Plate content detail

  1. Packing the goods in Pallets/Container and Shipping them in a WMS enabled organizations is a very common scenario but now let’s see how can we pack and ship the goods in Containers/Boxes even from a non-WMS enabled organization.

  1. Book a sales order for 40 qty of ‘AS54888’ in M1 organization

  1. Create a container Item. Select ‘Container’ checkbox under ‘Physical Attributes’ TAB and ensure that ‘Shippable’ flag is checked under ‘Order Management’ TAB

  1. Navigate to ‘Define Container-Item Relationships’ form to give the relationship between Item and Container such as how many items can a container hold
As per above screenshot, 20 Ea of AS54888 can be packed in one BOX_DYKS container

  1. Pick-release the sales order to allocate the material with ‘Auto Pick Confirm’ option as ‘Yes’

  1. Once the order is successfully pick-released, please query the order in ‘Shipping Transactions Form’ as shown below and click on ‘Find’ button.

  1. All the quantity got allocated and the line status is ‘Staged/Pick Confirmed’

Click on ‘Auto-pack’ button and re-query the form by selecting ‘Lines and LPNs’ option as shown in the below screenshot.

  1. The lines are split into two(each for 20 qty) and they are packed in 2 LPNs as per the container-item relationship setup.

I'm not very web smart so I'm not 100% certain. Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. reefer for sale
